The OAR Report

The OAR Report grew out of the work of a student group at Sarah Lawrence in the mid-90s called Organized Against Racism: OAR. I served as the group's faculty advisor, along with my colleague & friend Regina Arnold. During Orientation, I used to do workshops similar to the ones I did as an undergraduate at UMass Amherst, on race & language; after one of them, some sophomores & juniors & seniors who'd attended said they'd like to work more deeply on issues surrounding race at the College, so we started to meet. At one of our first meetings, they decided they wanted to do a comprehensive look at issues of race in every part of our community: the result was The OAR Report.
